Associate Director of Financial Aid Compliance
Description
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Student Financial Aid, the Associate Director of Financial Aid Compliance leads the App State compliance team. The primary duties of the Associate Director of Financial Aid Compliance are to ensure the Office of Student Financial Aid and University Scholarships remains compliant with Federal, State, NCAA, and Institutional regulations/laws. The purpose is to lead a compliance team that focuses on common and highly audited areas. Provide regulation guidance to ensure we remain compliant with new or altered rules. Work directly with the Sr. Director of Financial Aid to create office and institutional policy regarding Title IV aid compliance. Primary lead for Title IV and other aid reconciliation processes. These reconciliation processes average around two hundred million dollars worth of aid each academic year.
Additional duties of this position include leading, training, and managing the compliance team. Other duties include but are not limited to monitoring, and ensuring the eligibility of prospective and enrolled students for all student financial aid programs. This includes posting and adjusting of various awards. The position does include oversight of program areas. The job also includes regular processing and providing guidance/training to institutional staff. There will be some counseling and advise students, parents, community members, and institutional personnel on all aspects of federal, state, and institutional financial aid. This position reviews and updates the Office’s Policy and Procedure manual. Provides training and support for the Office of Financial Aid surrounding common compliance issues or concerns.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college.
- At least two years of general administrative experience involving public contact in a higher education setting.
- At least one year of experience working with federal regulations with priority given to applicants that have experience interpreting federal regulations into campus/work policies based on the policies.
- Evidence of Strong customer service skills based on work experience.
- Additional evidence of effective and positive oral and written communication skills are a must.
Strong preference for applicants with:
- Three or more years of Financial Aid experience;
- strong understanding of Title IV aid compliance standards;
- experience translating federal regulation into campus-based policy;
- experience supporting Financial Aid or similar audit processes;
- experience managing professional staff; and
- experience in a position that shows strong attention to detail when dealing with multiple tasks at the same time.
