Description
VP / Director of Wealth Management
Salem Partners Wealth Management
Overview
Salem Partners Wealth Management is seeking a senior, client-facing wealth management professional to support ultra-high-net-worth clients and work closely with firm leadership. This role is designed for an experienced professional with strong markets fluency, client presence, and judgment, who enjoys being a trusted relationship partner rather than a pure portfolio manager or salesperson.
The position sits at the intersection of investment communication, client relationship management, and family-office coordination, and will play a key role in presenting portfolios, handling complex one-off client needs, and translating investment strategy into clear, client-ready narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Relationship Management
- Serve as a senior point of contact for select UHNW clients
- Lead and participate in quarterly client meetings, including performance reviews, portfolio discussions, and market updates
- Act as a relationship quarterback, coordinating internal teams and external advisors to ensure seamless client experience
- Handle ad hoc, high-touch client requests that require judgment, discretion, and follow-through
Investment & Portfolio Communication
- Prepare and present portfolio performance reports, asset allocation summaries, and attribution analyses
- Communicate market conditions, investment rationale, and portfolio positioning clearly and confidently
- Support portfolio construction discussions in partnership with senior investment leadership
- Assist with tracking and communication related to alternative investments, capital calls, and distributions
Family Office Coordination
- Coordinate with clients’ CPAs, attorneys, and insurance professionals on trusts, estate planning, and complex structures
- Support philanthropic initiatives, including donor-advised funds and foundations
- Oversee document flow, reporting, and communications with custodians, fund managers, and service providers
- Manage sensitive matters with a strong understanding of confidentiality and reputational considerations
Special Projects & Leadership Support
- Support the CEO and CIO on strategic initiatives and special projects
- Prepare materials for investment committee discussions as needed
- Help translate complex internal work into clear, client-ready communication
Requirements
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in UHNW wealth management, multi-family office, private banking, or investment management
- Strong understanding of portfolio construction, markets, and investment principles
- Proven ability to present to sophisticated clients with confidence and credibility
- Experience coordinating across legal, tax, and advisory professionals
- High level of judgment, discretion, and professionalism
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, CFP, or advanced degree a plus
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Markets-literate and intellectually curious
- Comfortable being client-facing without owning a book or running portfolios
- Strong communicator who can simplify complexity
- Organized, proactive, and calm under pressure
- Enjoys variety, ambiguity, and one-off problem solving
- Trusted partner mindset rather than sales-driven
